As you go down Shays Run down Blackwater Canyon, each waterfall along Shays Run becomes increasingly more difficult to access. Nonetheless, Shays Run 3 and Shays Run 4 are both very nice waterfalls! I was not in the best physical shape the last time I was on Shays Run, so I do not have photos of #4 yet, but I do plan on making a summer trip up here after a rain to capture that and several other waterfalls. Shays Run #3 is the largest of the four waterfalls, coming in at a whopping 40 feet, but again, it is difficult to access, so I would suggest only venturing to it if you are in good physical condition, as it is usually slick and quite steep. Like the others, it is a beautiful waterfall, and I like that there was a tree lodged in the waterfall at the time that I last captured it.

There are multiple ways to get to the town of Davis, WV in Tucker County. Once you make it to the town, turn onto Route 29 (Blackwater Falls Road) for 2.6 miles. Then turn left onto Route 29/1 (Blackwater Lodge Road) for 1.5 miles. During this trek, the road will turn left slightly and become Park Forest Road 803. You can park at the lodge, and the trail will be on your left to get started. Once past Elakala Falls, there is a small trail that will take you down to this waterfall. Be careful, as it is narrow. Once past the second waterfall, the trail is typically taken over by rhododendron, but a faint trail is still easily visible. Be very careful, as you will be sliding on large rocks to access this waterfall. A handy rope would be suggested to tie off.
