The Lower Falls of Hills Creek in Pocahontas County is the 2nd highest waterfall in the Mountain State at a whopping 63 feet! This fantastic waterfall is just off the Highland Scenic Highway, and is easy to get to aside from a bunch of steps that fall down a wooden step system! Even on the driest of days (such as the day I went), the water still flows beautifully down this one-of-a kind waterfall! It is a sight to behold!
To access Lower Hills Creek Falls, head east from Fenwick in Nicholas County on Route 39/Route 55 for 13 miles, which is the Highland Scenic Highway until you see Hills Creek Road on the right. Turn right and follow briefly for a quarter mile until you see the parking area for the trail that leads you to all three waterfalls that comprise of the Falls of Hills Creek.
